More appointments

I know. My life is consumed by appointments. I feel like that's all I blog about these days--probably because it is. I write these posts to help capture my pregnancy progress because it's interesting to me to see how things change in a month, week, or day. So, I'm sorry for being so one-track minded these days. I'm hoping to jump tracks soon and post fun things about how our little girl is growing and how our big boy is adjusting. Until then...appointment updates.

I had two days of appointments--only 4 days apart--but both days went well. I'm seeing the midwives twice a week now since I'm a still a borderline case for preeclampsia. I'm fine with the double checks--if I finally tip over the edge and have preeclampsia, I'll be very happy to have been monitored so closely.

So, for my first days of appointments, I had four seperate stops: midwife check-up, an ultrasound, a non-stress test (NST), and a check in with an OB-GYN.

My general stats were:
  • Total weight gain: 19 pounds (yup, lost another one)
  • Baby's heart rate: 155 beats per minute
  • Position: She's still heads down but is no longer in the textbook position.

I think I had a sinus infection, and the midwife confirmed that I had some sort of infection that traveled into the lower part of my lungs. To prevent that from turning into full-blown pneumonia, I got a dose of antibiotics. The midwife also wanted to check on my urine protein number again, so I got to repeat that test--for a third time. I'm getting to be a pro at this test. The ultrasound and NST went quick because Baby Girl Wilson decided to cooperate! And finally, we spoke with the OB-GYN to get a planned C-section on the books in case I do not spontaneously go into labor. So the date is set!

The second day of appointments brought even better news! My stats were:

  • Total weight gain: 20 pounds
  • Baby's heart rate: 145 beats per minute
  • Position: Still head down, but not in the textbook position

I also got an onslaught of great news: my blood pressure was lower, my urine protein number was lower, and I didn't have to have any labs done this visit! YAY!! At this point, all of this news just made my week--well, unless I go into labor.
